One inspection destination
Visit M&A Auto Repair & MD State Inspection at 6181 Annapolis Road, Hyattsville, MD 20784. Station 7197 is the authorized Maryland safety inspection location. Brandywine and Washington, DC are separate repair locations; choosing either does not move the Maryland inspection there. A mobile visit cannot replace an inspection at the authorized station. Use the Hyattsville location when planning your visit or arranging transport.
What to confirm before Sunday
Send the vehicle year, make, model and vehicle class, along with your preferred arrival time. Mention trailers, commercial use, modifications, unusual dimensions or an approaching registration deadline. The team can confirm whether the inspector and equipment are available for that vehicle. Shop opening hours describe the business day; they do not promise that an inspector has an open appointment throughout every hour.
A clear starting price
The published planning price is $100 for a car, $125 for an SUV or crossover and $150 for a pickup or light truck. One-axle trailer inspection is $150 and two-axle trailer inspection is $200. Confirm the applicable class before booking. Repair work is separate from the inspection. Ask for the written estimate to show inspection charges, any proposed repairs and applicable additional charges before you approve them.
Prepare for an efficient arrival
Bring the vehicle information and any relevant inspection paperwork. Tell the advisor about warning lights, noises, braking changes or recent repairs. Remove loose items that obstruct access and bring any keys needed for locked areas. If the vehicle is unsafe to drive, discuss transport instead of driving it to an appointment. An arrival reservation is not a guaranteed completion time; inspection findings can change the work needed.
Understand the report before approving repairs
An inspection assesses the items required for the vehicle under Maryland rules. It is not a warranty of every component or a prediction of future reliability. If a problem is recorded, ask which item failed, what observation or measurement supports the finding and what repair will address it. Keep the report and discuss any reinspection deadlines and requirements with the authorized station. Repairs should follow your separate approval of the actual scope.
Brakes: measurements need context
A sample dashboard that labels every pad below 3.0 mm a Maryland failure would be misleading. For disc pads, current COMAR 11.14.02.03(D)(1) uses less than 2/32 inch, or 1.5875 mm, at the relevant lining measurement. Damage, contamination, attachment and other conditions also matter. Ask your inspector to explain the complete finding; an isolated thickness measurement cannot promise a pass or safe operation.
Your next step
Request the service and a written estimate. The team confirms availability and scope for your actual vehicle.
