Everyday maintenance

A simple maintenance plan for the car you actually drive.

Use your owner’s manual, mileage and service records to plan oil, fluids, tires and upcoming work without a one-size-fits-all calendar.

At a glanceYour vehicle’s manual and its service history decide the interval—not a universal number of miles.

Start with the right schedule

Find the maintenance section of the owner’s manual or manufacturer’s vehicle-specific maintenance schedule. Note the year, model, engine and current mileage. A reminder sticker can be useful, but it may not describe all services due on your car.

Many manuals distinguish ordinary use from more demanding conditions such as repeated short trips, towing or long periods of idling. Read the definitions for your vehicle rather than assuming your commute fits a category. Ask an advisor to show which schedule was used.

Make one short list

Write down the last known date and mileage for oil and filter service, tire rotation, brake inspection and other manufacturer-listed work. Mark records as unknown when you do not have proof; do not turn a guess into a completed service.

Include a note for any new noise, leak, warning lamp or handling change. A scheduled oil visit is a convenient time to mention these concerns, but a serious new symptom should not wait for the next calendar interval.

Decide what happens next

Ask the shop to separate work due now, work to monitor, and work that needs a diagnosis. Request an itemized estimate before adding a service. A digital inspection and a maintenance schedule answer different questions: one describes observed condition; the other describes planned care.

After the visit, save the invoice with date, mileage, product specification and work performed. Update the next due item in your Digital Garage where a verified record is available, and use the manual if the dashboard maintenance reminder disagrees with an old sticker.

Use the record at the next visit

Bring past invoices or photographs of them, especially if the car recently changed hands. Tell the advisor about repairs completed elsewhere, a maintenance reminder already reset, and any product requirements in the manual.

For an oil change, ask the team to confirm the specified oil and filter for your vehicle and the agreed scope. Price and quantity depend on the car and the written offer; a general guide cannot quote the final bill.
