Explain the amount and purpose
Write a short funding request showing how much you need, what you will purchase or support, and when the money is needed. Connect the request to a business plan, cost estimates, and a cash-flow forecast that includes repayment. State the assumptions behind expected sales, expenses, and collection dates. Explain relevant industry experience and existing obligations. Separate facts from projections. A clear request helps a lender evaluate the business, but preparing documents or using a lender-matching service does not guarantee approval or an offer.
Build a consistent document folder
Ask each lender for its current document list and required periods. Depending on the lender and product, requested records may include business and owner information, tax returns, bank statements, financial statements, a debt schedule, licenses, leases, and purchase estimates. Identify any requested collateral and supporting ownership records. Check that business names, reporting periods, balances, and explanations agree across the documents. Label forecasts clearly and explain unusual transactions. Verify the provider and its secure submission process before sharing confidential business or personal financial information.
Which comparison best shows repayment pressure?
Compare the full repayment terms
Request written terms covering the amount you actually receive, total repayment, payment frequency, duration, interest or other pricing method, and all applicable charges. Ask about collateral, personal guarantees, missed payments, early repayment, and circumstances allowing a demand for full repayment. Different pricing labels do not necessarily describe comparable costs; ask the provider to explain the calculation. Put each payment schedule into your cash forecast, including a slower-sales scenario. Review unclear terms with a qualified adviser before signing, and keep a copy of the final agreement.
