A Maryland safety inspection is not a quick code scan. The licensed inspector must evaluate the systems required for the vehicle class and document the result.
Vehicle condition affects timing
Corrosion, modified components, access problems or items that require closer measurement can extend the appointment. Ask the shop for the current schedule when booking.
Bring the right information
Bring the vehicle and current registration or ownership information. Tell the shop the vehicle class so it can confirm the station is authorized for it.
A failed item creates a separate decision
The inspection report identifies defects. Repairs require your authorization, and the applicable re-inspection rules should be confirmed with Maryland State Police.
